Functionality of the Multitone DECT

The primary function of the Multitone DECT system is that it integrates into one cordless handset all the communications and security requirements for any given organisation. This provides key staff members with full mobility across any site without compromising safety or security. Indeed handsets may be programmed to work in a number of different sites so staff who have a requirement to move from site to site maintain their full communications capability at each site.

This allows maximum flexibility in the deployment and utilisation of valuable staff resources.

The Multitone DECT system key functions and integration options include:

  • Voice
  • Nurse call
  • Duress
  • Security
  • Equipment
  • Fire & Smoke
  • Door Access Controllers
  • Public Address Systems
  • On-Site Paging
  • Factory Production Plant and Equipment

Voice

The Multitone DECT Cordless Handset provides full voice communications functionality via the sites existing telephone system. This includes incoming, outgoing and internal telephone calls. The management of such calls (e.g. Outgoing or STD Barring, speed dialling etc) is available in line with the features provided on the host telephone system’s analogue extensions.

Nurse Call

Through the Multitone DECT Text Messaging Interface nurse call alarms may be integrated so that they appear as a text message on the handset. Receipt of an alarm message is accompanied by an audible tone. Depending on the actual nurse call system installed it is possible for the staff member to speak with residents via the Multitone DECT handset.

Duress Alert

The Multitone DECT Duress system may be integrated into the standard Multitone DECT System to allow “DURESS” calls to be originated from each DECT handset.  Such calls are sent to other nominated DECT handsets in the facility and can simultaneously be sent to the nurse call system, for display on actuator panels, and to an offsite security provider.

The “DURESS” alert is activated by a single button press and sends the identification of the originating handsets together with an indication of location.

Originators of the call receive reassurance that their alert has been transmitted and also receive “help on way” advice from each colleague who is responding to the alert.

All duress activities can be logged to hard disc to provide a permanent record of activity.

Security

Security alarms such as external door alarms may also be terminated on the Multitone DECT handset. If a door alarm is activated an audible tone will be received and the screen will indicate (using a pre formatted message) the nature and location of the alarm.

Essential Equipment Alarms

Essential equipment such as ventilators, lifts, power generators etc can be connected to Multitone DECT system. In the event of failure an alarm message will be received on the designated handset's).

Fire & Smoke

Other essential equipment such as Fire Panels can be connected to the Multitone DECT system. This enables key staff to immediately to be informed of the situation and instigate emergency procedures.

Door Access Controllers

It is possible to activate door release mechanisms from the Multitone DECT handset. In an after hours situation, for example where an ambulance has been called and staff are attending the patient, this function can be adopted in allowing the ambulance access without having to leave the patient.

Public Address Systems

Staff may access and use the site public address (PA) system via the Multitone DECT Handset. Subject to the facility being available from the host telephone system analogue extensions.

On-Site Paging

Messages from the on-site paging systems can be sent to the Multitone DECT handset thus removing the requirement for staff to carry both a pager receiver and a handset. This is dependant on the type of paging system being used.

Coverage of the site is guaranteed as detailed Radio Surveys are completed prior to installation to ensure that handsets operate satisfactorily in ALL required areas of the site.

Handsets are small but robust (not dissimilar to a mobile phone) and come with a leather carry case that is worn on the belt of the user. Battery talk time is up to 16+ hours, standby 150+ hours and handsets are fully charged from zero in 3.5 hours.
